Tunisia: ready for a major recovery package from Europe
October 4, 2011: The return to economic recovery, refer to some notes of Brussels, is an imperative and requires the launch of reforms and new economic and social policies. T
wo EU programs and special measures for financial assistance in support of Tunisia are approved two weeks ago, demonstrating the interest from Europe to invest in a key country.
''The financial support to Tunisia could be around four billion euro for 2011-2013, including contributions from EU, Member States and the European Investment Bank'', spoke few days ago Catherine Aston, EU High Representative foreign policy.
The Task Force - Tunisia and European Union - has also agreed to resume negotiations for the liberalization of trade in agricultural products and the launch of a free trade agreement, once they get a mandate from the Council of Europe.
This statement is part of a major development project that has seen the Commission, in the weeks before, to approve an help for Tunisia and its people, financing also its modernization of some residential areas and creating jobs too. It is expected by economists the immediate creation of over 15000 jobs between public and private sectors.
It was also enacted a specific measure to increase the competitiveness of the Tunisian economy with 20 million euros to be allocated to support the process of modernization of the transport sector.
These investments will encourage all enterprises, both Italian and European operating in Tunisia, or who are willing to do so, to a new growth process.
